Contractor’s Checklist: Let’s go to Work

When your construction company decides to begin a new project, there are several factors that you should review prior to breaking ground. Before you begin your next project, review this checklist.

1. Is your Insurance program current and does it fully protect you for this line of work? Your agent should review and discuss your current coverage with you so that you can understand what you have protection for and what is excluded from your policies?

2. Does this project require any bonding? Many cities require Contractors to carry License and permit bonds. In addition to this, some projects require that the contractor carry a surety bond. See the list of links below to understand your city’s requirements.

3. Do your sub-contractors have their own insurance? Require all sub-contractors to provide you with a certificate of insurance that lists you as an additional insured.

4. Check with the project owner to see if you are required to list them as an additional insured

These simple steps can protect you and your company from any potential financial hardship that a potential claim can cause.  Talk with a Keller National agent today to see how we can construct a contractor’s package to protect your business.
